How are LED lenses classified based on their application?

led lens is an optical system that is closely connected with LED and can enhance the power of light application and emission. It can use different lenses to modify the light field dispersion of LED according to different functions. According to application classification, it can be divided into primary lenses and secondary lenses.
Primary lens
1. The primary lens is directly encapsulated (or bonded) onto the LED chip holder, forming a whole with the LED.
2. In theory, LED chips emit light at 360 degrees, but in reality, the chip can be fixed and packaged on an LED bracket, so the maximum luminous angle of the chip is 180 degrees (there may be a small amount of residual light larger than 180 degrees). Other chips may also have some stray light, which can effectively concentrate all the light from the chip through a single lens and obtain different luminous angles such as 180 °, 160 °, 140 °, 120 °, 90 °, 60 °, etc. However, the luminous power of LED Lens varies with different angles (the general rule is that the higher the angle, the higher the power).
3. A primary lens usually uses materials such as PMMA, PC, optical glass, silicone, etc.
Secondary lens
1. The secondary lens and LED are two independent objects, but they are inseparable when used.
2. The function of a secondary lens is to concentrate the luminous angle of an Led Lighting Lens source again into a desired angle between 5 ° and 160 °. The dispersion of the light field can be mainly divided into circular, elliptical, and rectangular shapes.
3. Secondary lens materials generally use optical grade PMMA or PC; In special circumstances, glass can be selected
